No damage to our area of the city but you CAN'T go surfing!!!!

Aftermath of flooded river followed by big swells

Last weekend there was heavy rain in the mountains which flooded the Waimakariri River and washed out huge amount of branches, trees and rubbish. A couple days later there was a huge swell which washed it all up on the beach.
I filled many bags with plastic trash. The most common items were plastic bottle caps, short bits of poly rope and short bits of blue wrapping strap. Also lots of shoes and random stuff.
I found a great piece of plywood though - yet to decide whether to create a painting on it or to make some kind of surfcraft.

And...I got my mojo back for creating paipo and handboards again.
